EAR INFECTIONS~A
NEW APPROACH
Should antibiotics
be given as the first line of defense for your child's ear infections?
Not according to Dr. Alfred Berg, a co-chair of a federal panel of experts
and a professor at the University of Washington. He stated that in most
cases, the condition disappears within three to six months without medical
treatment. He said antibiotics are of limited value, and stated, ''Antibiotics
are a valid option for treating OME (otitis media, a middle ear infection)
but they are not the preferred option in early stages of the condition".
The Agency for Health Care Policy and Research's federally sponsored
panel concluded that most children who have ear fluid buildup do not
require surgical or antibiotic treatment. The Journal of the American
Medial Association (JAMA) reported that amoxicillin (the most common
drug treatment given for ear infections), ''is not effective in the
treatment of persistent asymptomatic, middle ear effusions (fluid build
up) in infants and children.''
The articles available
in this website, will document the paradigm shift taking place in society
today away from drugs and surgery, towards chiropractic and natural
health care. Many contemporary parents are taking a new approach. They
are turning to their family chiropractor. Rather than hoping a drug
will mask the symptoms of an illness, the Doctor of Chiropractic is
looking to the cause of "dis-ease" in the body. The chiropractor
looks to the function of the nervous system for answers.
Housed in the spinal
column, an intricate array of wiring dictates all functions of the body
through messages sent from the brain. Interference in this system, termed
Vertebral Subluxation (spinal nerve interference) can alter the normal
function of the body. Through careful analysis, your family chiropractor
can locate and gently correct any areas of subluxation in your child's
growing spine.
During the past
century, Chiropractic has become the largest drug free profession in
the world. The Isenburg study shows that one third of all parents now
bring their children to non-medial doctors, primarily chiropractors.
If you are like many parents, you too are dissatisfied with the medical
treatment and drug therapy your child has been offered. Taking this
new approach can lead you in the direction towards health, vitality
and wellness.
Ask the friendly
chiropractic staff in Dr. Burk's office to schedule a consultation with
him to discuss your child's health. You'll be glad you did!
